The Clemson Tigers are coming off one of their best seasons in which they didn’t win a National Championship. They finished the 2012 season with a 11-2 record, including 7-1 in the ACC. They tied the Florida State Seminoles for first place in their division and will look to make it further this season. The team is ranked by Sports Illustrated in tenth place of their preseason poll and would like to use their 2012 performance as a springboard towards greener pastures in 2013.
Clemson Tigers 2013 Home Game Schedule:
Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Bulldogs 8/31/13 (Won: Final Score Clemson 38 – Georgia Bulldogs 35)
Clemson Tigers vs. South Carolina State Bulldogs 9/7/13 (Won: Final Score Clemson 52 – South Carolina 13)
How did their 2012 season go and what do fans have to look forward to in 2013?
After opening the season with a big win against Auburn, Clemson played two teams that had no right being on the field with them. When they stepped onto the field for their fourth game, they were unprepared for a team with an actual offense and Florida State got the big win. Clemson would go on to win seven in a row before a loss to their inner state rival Gamecocks. They did finish the season with a win in the Chick-fil-A-Bowl against LSU, getting their ranking in the AP back to 11th.
Key 2013 Games
The 2013 schedule for Clemson is bookmarked with games that could make or break their season. These two games, contested against Georgia and South Carolina will play a large role in which of these teams, if any, make it to the BCS National Championship.
- Saturday, August 31 – vs. Georgia
This out of conference game will pit one of the best in the SEC against one of the best in the ACC. For both teams, 2013 is supposed to be the year to win it all, but that will be tough to do heading into the second game of the season with an 0-1 record.
- Saturday, November 30 – @ South Carolina
The regular season will conclude with the Battle of the Palmetto State. A year ago, South Carolina picked up the win by a score of 27-17. At this stage of the season, this could be the game that propels one of these top teams towards the BCS National Championship, or relegates them down to a bowl that nobody will watch.
